Invisalign braces are used to straighten teeth. The main difference from traditional braces is that Invisalign is made from a series of clear plastic aligners that sit over the top of your teeth making them practically invisible to other people. With no metal wires, Invisalign is a comfortable alternative to other braces.
Another big difference with Invisalign is that they are removable braces, so you can take them out to eat, drink, and brush your teeth.
In addition to the aesthetic value and removability, Invisalign’s® soft plastic aligners won’t damage the soft tissues in your mouth. Unlike metal braces and wires, they will not irritate the inside of your gums or get food caught between the brackets.
The Invisalign® system is also virtually invisible, meaning that most people won’t know you’re straightening your teeth while you’re also working, going to school, or sleeping.
Each new aligner set shifts your teeth gradually. The first few days of a new aligner may result in some tenderness, but that will subside. You will likely forget you have your aligners in for the better part of most of your days while using Invisalign®. If you experience any discomfort, over-the-counter pain relievers will alleviate any aching or soreness.
